Vinification
Hand-harvested organic Barbera grapes from Piedmont undergo destemming, crushing, and short skin maceration (typically 7-12 days) at controlled low temperatures (around 20-25°C) for bright fruit extraction without heavy tannins. Fermentation happens in stainless steel tanks to preserve freshness, followed by spontaneous malolactic fermentation. No oak—refinement is in steel tanks for 4-6 months, then brief bottle aging before release, keeping it vibrant and unoaked.
Characteristics
Intense ruby red with violet tones. Aromas highlight fresh red fruits (cherry, raspberry, mature berries), gentle spices, and floral hints—complex yet lively. Full-bodied and velvety palate with harmonic structure, persistent fruit, balanced acidity, and no oaky vanilla; it's the "green" (Barbaverde = green beard) fresh style vs. wood-aged Barberas.
Sustainability Label
Organic ("bio") certified grapes and production methods. Packaging features FSC-certified labels (Forest Stewardship Council) for sustainable sourcing—look for the FSC tree logo on the back label, promoting responsible forestry.
Food Pairings
Versatile for lighter dishes: pasta, grilled vegetables (zucchini, peppers), falafel, roasted peppers, or charcuterie. Its acidity refreshes fatty foods like pizza or burgers too.
