ILatium Morini Amarone Della Valpolicella "Leon" Docg 2018
How is Made
VINIFICATION: This Amarone is crafted from a blend of 70% Corvina and Corvinone, 20% Rondinella, and 10% Oseleta grapes, all sourced from vineyards situated over 200 meters above sea level on calcareous soils. The grapes undergo the traditional appassimento process, drying for 130 days in small crates to concentrate flavors. Fermentation follows with a 60 day maceration, utilizing French oak barrels for 36 months, and an additional 36 months of bottle aging
CHARACTERISTICS: The wine presents a deep ruby red color with garnet hues. Its bouquet is rich and complex, featuring aromas of ripe black fruits, sour cherries, leather, tobacco, and earthy notes, complemented by spices like nutmeg, cocoa, vanilla, and black pepper. On the palate, it is full-bodied and smooth, with elegant tannins and a warm, persistent finish. This Amarone pairs excellently with rich dishes such as grilled red meats, roast game, and aged cheeses
